MG15 Ground Conversion Kit

During 1940, the MG15 machine guns used in aircraft applications were being replaced by other heavier calibre machine guns or autocannons. Some of the replaced MG15 machine guns were then reassigned to infantry units. This involved the use of a conversion kit seen here which allowed the use of a bipod, mounted to a cast aluminium support mounted to the barrel shroud along with a revised stock, carry handle and sighting system.
According to records, by early 1944, 17,648 MG15’s had been converted for ground use.
