Junkers L5 engine
£28,000.00
The Junkers L5 is a 6-cylinder, water-cooled inline aircraft engine, first run in 1925, developed by Germany’s Junkers Motorenbau (Jumo) in the 1920s, based on a typical 1st World War water-cooled 6-cylinder German aero-engine design. It was fitted to several aircraft, including the Junkers W 33. It was known for its 310-340 hp output (in L5 and L5G variants) and was crucial for early all-metal transport aeroplanes. The capacity is about 23 litres, though it presents itself as a neat and compact engine. This example is more or less complete but has suffered from external storage, and although it is certainly restorable, one or two subsidiary castings may require remanufacturing. It is extremely rare, and only two others are known in private hands. Retrotec our sister company,is well-equipped and would be pleased to discuss restoring it to running condition, at additional cost.
