About Us
Aero Vintage Ltd. was founded in 1982 by engineer Guy Black, with a vision to preserve aviation history by restoring pre-1945 ex-military aircraft to flying condition. Over the years, the company has grown into a global leader in historic aircraft restoration, renowned for its craftsmanship, authenticity, and innovation.
From its early recreation of Sopwith Pups to the discovery and restoration of rare original aircraft like Hawker Bi-Planes, De Havilland 9 and Spitfire, Aero Vintage has consistently set the standard for excellence in the field. To support these ambitious projects, the company established Retrotec Ltd., a dedicated engineering sister company, recognised worldwide for its expertise and comprehensive CAA certifications. Retrotec’s work includes reviving long-obsolete manufacturing techniques to produce high-quality parts and components.
Beyond restoration, Aero Vintage is a leading supplier of Air Ministry boxed parts following the purchase of W.A. Parker (Methco) based at Benfleet.
Over the years, our meticulously restored aircraft have been regular features at airshows, in films, and as part of living history events, bringing the golden age of aviation to life. With a commitment to preserving aviation heritage, Aero Vintage continues to inspire and serve future generations of enthusiasts and historians.
